Most amazing Apartment at Cocos Islands

Mira's Avatar

We stayed for 3 Nights at ninetysixeast and it was perfect. The apartment was clean and very nicely furnished. Colin and Christine were great hosts and took excellent care of us. Every day we went on excursions together, Colin showed us the island - that was a lot of fun. Snorkeling equipment and a buggy for guests are included. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty. We had a wonderful stay in the ninetysixeast and can recommend it to everyone. Thank you Colin and Christine for the great time with you.

Location, Location, Location

Our bed and breakfast experience at ‘ninetysixeast’ on Cocos Keeling Islands did not disappoint. Colin met us at the airport in his Cocos Buggy and we were soon at our accommodation which boasted spectacular ocean views and was just metres from the beach. We were warmly greeted by Colin’s beautiful wife Christine who together with Colin made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our private room with en-suite and verandah, was freshly decorated and very clean. Each morning a continental breakfast was served on the sweeping verandah of the main house. Colin provided us with a very interesting and educational tour of West Island. He is full of knowledge about the history of Cocos Keeling Islands and is an entertaining tour guide. Colin and Christine were very helpful in coordinating our tours and excursions to other Islands and whatever else we needed to make our stay enjoyable. We had use of the Cocos Buggy to explore the West Island and it’s beautiful beaches. In the evenings we spent time relaxing with our hosts, while watching magnificent sunsets. We had a wonderful experience on Cocos Keeling Islands and have some very fond memories of our remote Island holiday. Many thanks Colin and Christine

Best of all

Hello out there, Let me begin with a short summary of our amazing stay at Cocos Ceeling Island. My wife and I planned to stay for a week at Cocos Keeling Island since many years and found time over the last Xmas (2018). As u know when u’re planning your stay at CKI, it’s a very small island but offers several accommodations. However, I did a lot of research to find the right, quiet and comfortable accommodation, in our case, with “Bed & Breakfast” and therefore there was just one option, the “ninetysixeast”. At the webpage we found some very nice photos and well, it looked nice, had “Bed n Breakfast” and we booked. To be honest, THAT was the best decision we made! The webpage cannot keep up with reality!!! The “ninetysixeast”, situated directly on the seafront (3m to the beach) is a combination of traditional settler house and beautiful modern pieces of natural and white wood, very clean, quiet and an absolutely amazing ocean view. The breakfast is served at the main terrace, watching the sunrise (or in the evening enjoying a cup of tea and the sunset) turtles, sharks and Napoleon fish directly in front of the hotel (around 20m in front of you) and having a lovely chat with the owners, Colin and his lovely wife Christine. Colin is a walking encyclopedia regarding the history of Cocos Keeling island and Christine is a teacher, for amongst others, English. We really really enjoyed listening to all of Colins stories about this island and the funny conversations about the differences between english and german sayings with Christine. Every single evening, especially the “pizza day” (Colin is a hidden Italian ;-)) was the perfect ending of an amazing day on Cocos Keeling island. The “ninetysixeast” offers you a spacious, clean, quiet room, a very nice breakfast, an amazing ocean view, free wifi, golf carts, lovely owners, a lot of Island-stories and the best help for organizing activities on Cocos Keeling island. You can decide either to walk or to use the golf carts to visit all the gorgeous beaches (without wasting a lot of money for an expansive rental car). If u want to visit home island, nothing could be simpler, Colin organizes a private guide in a private golf cart, done, just enjoy the beautiful tour. To put it in a nutshell, this week wouldn’t have been that amazing without staying at the “ninetysixeast”, thank you for that and see you next time, for sure.

Best accomodation on the island

We had a fabulous stay with Colin and Christine while visiting Cocos and doing the lagoon swim. Colin keeps the room immaculately clean while we enjoyed the lovely waters around the island. We enjoyed a drink overlooking the ocean most evening with our hosts on their front balcony and discovered friends in common. Would recommend this little treasure to anyone

Cocos calm

We had a wonderful return visit after 20 years to Cocos Keeling the accomodation was beautifully positioned across the road from the ocean and you fell asleep to the sounds of the surf. The room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean with a ensuite - the bed was comfortable with the special touch of a different splash of colour each day in the cushions and bedspread. Colin and Christine were welcoming and shared their insights into this unique piece of Australia - it was a good way to start each day over breakfast discussing what to do that day. The access to the electric golf buggy for excursion to the north of West Island gave us the ability to explore the beaches and Colin gave us a guided tour down to the south end beaches. Don't miss a trip to Home Island, a day on Direction Island and the motorised canoe safari. I'd recommend the accomodation and the unobtrusive care of our hosts for the week. Cocos is isolated and you can have whole beaches to yourself so a real place to enjoy a very different pace and recharge

The best place for our Honeymoon!

This is the best accommodation available on cocos keeling islands. we had 4 nights booked here and we secretly wanted the flight back to Perth to be cancelled the day we were leaving. Colin and Christine are wonderful hosts, we got picked up from the airport and they had dinner ready for us when we arrived which is a lovely touch considering the restaurant options on the islands are limited and unreliable. Colin also included a guided tour of west island and a snorkelling trip, he helped us book a guided tour of home island which was a highlight, and also included the golf buggy for the entirety of our stay. We couldn't recommend this place enough. The room is all modern with airconditoning and a tv, the balcony faces the ocean and an amazing sunset, theres Nespresso coffee pods in the kitchenette, its all these small touches coupled with things like included breakfast and golf buggy's that make this place worth it!

The Best of Cocos Keeling!

Colin and Christine have a beautiful home and are fantastic hosts. The room has a beautiful view out to the ocean and it is quite easy to spend a day watching the waves roll in from their deck. Colin welcomed us with a detailed tour of the island, sharing the history as well as great spots to explore. We felt very spoilt as nothing was too much trouble and even though we had a very last minute booking, they arranged a bottle of sparkling wine for our anniversary on the day we arrived. We felt very welcomed and relaxed- a perfect stay due to lovely hosts. We absolutely recommend this as THE place to stay. Thank you Colin and Christine!

A meeting place of History, tropical weather, and adventurers of the world !

It is a truly a boutique holiday. Colin and Christine are the BEST hosts. it is the cleanest, modernist, place to enjoy your stay on Cocos . Ask Colin about the history of Cocos and he will fill you in ! Ideal for all ages. Limited space though. Well worth a look.

Tropical Tranquility

Been looking forward to heading to Cocos Islands for a long time and I throughly enjoyed my stay in ninetysixeast. Colin and Christine looked after us very well, from Airport pickup/dropoff, to daily breaky, and guided tour of West Island. Their travel suggestions were spot on, and we got the most out of our stay. You can also make use of the Golf Buggy and its a nice way to get around West Island. The room was neat, well appointed with kitchenette & bathroom, TV, and nice comfy bed. Wifi was good too. I would recommend ninetysixeast to anyone looking to enjoy a nice trip in Cocos. Colin & Christine will look after you well.

Beautiful!

From the time we were picked up by Colin at the airport, until the time we departed, we had a fantastic holiday. Colin and Christine provided us with yummy wraps upon arrival, eaten on the balcony with views of the ocean. We had a complimentary golf buggy to travel the island with, together with complimentary WiFi. The room was spacious and airy with modern amenities. Our hosts were also helpful in recommending things to do and places to see. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone travelling to Cocos Keeling Island.

Paradise

What a magic place and what a wonderful time we had, the only disappointment was we should have stayed longer. Our hosts Col and Christine made our stay extremely enjoyable from the pickup at the airport and an orientation tour around the island, with a brief history, sharing their deck with us for sunset drinks let alone Col's scrumptious pizzas, all above and beyond the call of duty. I could not recommend ninetysixeast highly enough I came home very relaxed, that view was hard to leave.
